Ann writes, speaks, performs, and parents two teenagers. In 2010 she created the national storytelling show LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER, which has graced stages in 60 cities and counting. Ann also edited the acclaimed anthology LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER: What She Said Then, What We’re Saying Now (Putnam & Sons, 2015).
Ann holds a BA in Theater and a Masters in Social Work. She enhanced her education with a PhD’s worth of parenting and mom blogging. As a result, hundreds of brilliant online women (turned local producers and storytellers) helped create the audience-loving, community-building, mind-expanding, humanity-celebrating LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER phenomenon. The show’s meteoric rise rests on their shoulders, and especially the national leadership team effort of Taya Dunn Johnson, Deb Rogers, Melisa Wells, and Stephanie Wilson.
Ann’s writing has been featured on sites like CollegeHumor, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, The Huffington Post and The Washington Post. National TV appearances include ABCnews.com, NBC Nightly News and the webseries’ Battleground and The Louise Log. Ann’s blog (annimig.com fka Ann’s Rants) was once named a Babble Top 100 Mom Blog, A BlogHer Voice of the Year, and a SheKnows Top 5 Funniest Mom Blog.
Most days Ann sweeps up cat litter and signs permission slips.
