Announcing the Cast of the 2017 LTYM Twin Cities Show!

March 7, 2017

We know how difficult it is to tell your story, to take something that is deeply personal and share it with others. It’s even harder to share it with strangers. We were honored to hear over forty such personal stories during the auditions for this year’s show. We are grateful for each woman who took the time to write her story and then took the risk of sharing it with us. Each story was beautiful in its own right. It is never easy to choose some stories while letting others go but last week, we had to do just that. We are thrilled to announce the cast of this year’s Listen To Your Mother Twin Cities show! We will be returning to the Riverview Theater on Thursday, May 4th at 7 p.m. and we hope you’ll join us for another year and new stories. Tickets are on sale now! We’ve sold out the past two years so get […]

We are so excited to officially open the casting doors to the 5th Twin Cities Listen to Your Mother Show! We’ll be hosting four open audition times (listed below). Sign up, prepare your story, and come read it to us. After listening to everyone read, we’ll announce our 2017 Twin Cities cast! Some things to note: Your story should be 3-5 minutes long — time yourself and add or delete as needed, then time yourself again. We’ll time you at auditions as well. The theme is motherhood, what you do with this is up to you. But your story has to center around motherhood — the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, the sad, the scary, and, of course, the golden. Tell the story only you can tell. Be detailed. We want you. To get ready for your audition, watch past stories on the LTYM YouTube channel. There are over 1,000 stories in the Listen to Your Mother YouTube archive. We’re […]

Calling all local #Minnesota writers!

January 2, 2017

It is, quite literally, the most wonderful time of the year: Listen to Your Mother season is just around the corner! Listen to Your Mother is the celebration of motherhood that we all wish we’d thought of, and that luckily national director Ann Imig did think of! Now affectionately known as LTYM, Listen to Your Mother is a series of live, on-stage readings across North America on or around Mother’s Day. Most LTYM readers aren’t professional writers and many of them aren’t mothers. LTYM readers are people with stories about motherhood to tell. And this includes absolutely everyone—especially you. The mission of each LTYM show is to give voice to motherhood–the good, the bad, the sad, the ugly, the hilarious, the golden, and of course, the beautiful–in the form of original readings performed live on-stage by their authors.
