Welcome to #LTYM St. Louis!

Meet the cast!

Cast Spotlight: Paul Gilbride

by Ellie on April 7, 2015

Today we have our Q&A with cast member Paul Gilbride, a stay-at-home dad, life coach, author, and diehard Badgers fan. His inspirational story is honest, raw, and so emotional that you’ll need not just one tissue, but a whole box.

What inspired you to audition for LTYM?

I am passionate about the father’s increasing role in parenting and am committed to helping change the narrative on masculinity and gender equity for both women and men. I was inspired by LTYM as a forum for me to be a role model for these movements.

What’s the craziest piece of advice your mother or a mother gave you?

When I was 16 my mother told me the girl who kept missing the bus and asking me for a ride home was manipulating me and that I should stay away from her. That girl became my high school sweetheart and is now my wife of 24 years.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve said to your kids?

When asked to write something to my son to accompany his middle school graduation picture in the yearbook, I wrote, “Better the Devil you know.”

Quick…ask the child closest (in proximity, of course) to you to describe you in 10 words or less. What did they say?

My dad is passionate, humorous and wise beyond his years. (Calvin 17)

How would you describe yourself as a writer?

Salty or sweet? What’s your favorite snack to splurge on?

Salty, Never met any kind of potato chip I did not like!

This man is one special guy!!!! He says that he feels as though he is in a “Witness Protection Plan” even though he has sacrificed so much to be the best parent possible!!! I’m so impressed with Paul and honored that he’s in our cast this year!!!! I’m not sure what Ellie, Naomi, and I have done to get so darn lucky this year!!!! Whooo Hooo!!!

Love the “Listen to Your Mother” coming from a father. Paul has a great perspective that will inspire other men and women!
