ANN IMIG is the founder of the live-reading series and video sharing company LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER and editor of the acclaimed anthology LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER: What She Said Then, What We’re Saying Now (Putnam Books, 2015). A Stay-At-Home Humorist, Ann’s writing has been featured on sites like CollegeHumor, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, The Huffington Post and The Washington Post. National TV appearances include ABCnews.com, NBC Nightly News and the webseries Battleground and The Louise Log. Ann’s blog (annsrants.com) has been named a Babble Top 100 Mom Blog, A BlogHer Voice of the Year, and a SheKnows Top 5 Funniest Mom Blog. Ann lives with her husband and children in Madison, Wisconsin.
Janine Kovac, Director, is a talent-wrangler for Litquake, San Francisco’s literary festival, and program coordinator for the 501(c)3 writing group Write on Mamas. She is co-editor of (and contributing author to) Mamas Write: 29 Tales of Truth, Wit, and Grit as well as the editor of The Book of Kid: Parenting Advice by Third Graders, proceeds of which go to benefit students of Oakland Unified School District.
A former professional ballet dancer, she never turns down an opportunity to read her work aloud and has read at Litquake, Lit Crawl, InsideStorytime, Oakland Beast Crawl, Literary Death Match, and the Mineral School, and of course, Listen To Your Mother.
2017 is Janine’s third year directing for Listen To Your Mother and she is tickled to be a part of this national storytelling series in celebration of motherhood. Janine lives in Oakland with her husband, their daughter and their twin boys.
Mary Hill, Co-Director, is writing a memoir about learning to accept her son’s disability and then helping him do the same. Mary has read at Lit Crawl, is a co-editor of the anthology Mamas Write, and is a Lit Camp 2014 alum. Her essays have also appeared in various disability-related newsletter and blogs, including her own, Finding Joy in Simple Things. Mary lives in Berkeley with her husband and three children.
Tarja Parssinen, Producer, is a writer and performer whose work has been featured on sites like Salon.com, The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, in several humor anthologies, and as a monthly humor columnist with the Southern Marin Mother’s Magazine. She was a 2013 cast member in the Listen To Your Mother San Francisco show, has read at Lit Crawl and on KQED radio. Tarja lives with her husband and two young boys just north of San Francisco. This is Tarja’s second year producing Listen To Your Mother.
