This marks the grand finale season of LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER, not just in the San Francisco Bay Area, but nationwide. After eight years from its origin in Madison, Wisconsin with our Founding Director, Ann Imig, this important storytelling movement will follow the old theater adage of “leave them wanting more” and close its curtains for the last time next May. I know I speak for my whole team when I say we  are deeply honored to have a been a part of bringing LTYM to San Francisco.

For those who don’t know, LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER features live readings by local writers on the beauty, the beast, and the barely-rested of motherhood in celebration of Mother’s Day. Each production is directed, produced, and performed by local communities, for local communities, and a portion of ticket proceeds is given to a local charity that in turn supports local mothers and children.

Our last season will be our best, with 33 participating cities! Check out this fantastic grand finale video announcement.

Big News For the Bay Area!

I will return for the 2017 season with my dynamite team from last year, co-director and producer Janine Kovac and associate director Mary Hill! We are thrilled to announce that next year, our show will be performed in Marin County! Does this mean our submissions and auditions will change? NO. We will continue to look for a diversity of voices from every corner of the Bay Area and continue to hold auditions in San Francisco, Oakland and Marin.

What’s next? The most important part: YOU.

Are you a mother? Do you have a mother? Do you know a mother? We want your stories! Submissions will open in January 2017. Stay tuned! We’ll post our official call, as well as audition dates, rehearsal dates, and our performance date here.

For all things LTYM, we encourage you to subscribe to our monthly newsletter  and follow on FacebookInstagramPinterest, and Twitter. And then of course, there is the LTYM Anthology and the over 1500 videos from past seasons on our LTYMShow YouTube channel.

Giving motherhood a microphone in the Bay,

Tarja, Janine and Mary
