Today we want you to get to know Risa Nye.
Risa is mom to three children, a 36 year old daughter and 33 and 27 year old sons. She was born in San Francisco and raised in the East Bay. Risa also chose to raise her family in the East Bay.
Three words Risa would use to describe her mother are musical, complicated, and short. We also asked Risa three words to describe herself. She answered, “writer, knitter, baby-whisperer.”
Although, judging by this photo, there is more than meets the eye to Risa.
If she could take a vacation anywhere in the world, Risa would choose Hawaii or Italy. We asked Risa to tell us about the best gift she has ever given. She answered, “For my husband’s birthday when we were newlyweds: a surprise day trip to Disneyland (that we could barely afford).” And the best gift she has ever received is, “a beautiful natural pearl necklace that my husband tracked down after I’d dropped a little hint. The shop where I saw it was in Calistoga, but he managed to find it and have it arrive in time for my birthday.” Sounds like these two have a fantastic romance!
Risa left her career and went back to school at age 58. She earned an MFA in Creative Nonfiction and started a blog. Now she writes all kinds of things and gets to review cocktails for Berkeleyside! We’re hoping she can help us come up with a signature Listen To Your Mother cocktail.
Don’t miss your chance to hear her touching story on May 3rd. There are still tickets left, but run don’t walk to get yours. They are selling fast!
