LTYM Rochester 2016: That’s A Wrap!

May 16, 2016

We’re still taking it all in: the massive accomplishment that seventeen women, together, this year, that became the fabulous Listen To Your Mother Rochester show. The sheer bravery of our cast to put forth their truths–to audition, to read to us, to read to the public, their friends and family, and to strangers. The anticipation, for so many weeks, of this very night, when a hushed audience opened their hearts and listened. The excitement and release that comes with creating a meaningful evening, a new way to celebrate Motherhood. The joy of raising funds for local women, children, and families in need. The connections we have formed as a result of listening to each other. The resonance and the power of stories. The sisterhood and the community strength that results when people come together to do good. As you look at these beautiful pictures, courtesy of our hyper-local sponsor and LTYM photographer Debra […]

Meet Ultra-Megaphone Sponsor Sharon Stiller!

May 4, 2016

Sharon Stiller is a superstar in Rochester’s arts scene for her staunch, stalwart, and active support of women, the arts, community issues, and any combination of those: such as women in the arts. You can’t throw a rock in this town without hitting a committee or an organization she’s either sitting on, heading up, on the board of, or engaged with somehow. Sharon is so involved in the cogs of this area’s cultural scene–from the Little Theater to the National Women’s Hall of Fame–that it’s amazing she has any time whatsoever to devote to her work as an Partner with Abrams Fensterman. Yet somehow, she does–and she’s wildly talented at practicing law. And: she’s a mother, a daughter, a tennis player, a film-goer. . . I’m out of breath just typing all of this. This is Sharon’s second season as our Ultra-Megaphone sponsor, and we are so honored to have her support for Rochester’s Listen To Your Mother […]

Welcome, New Podium Sponsors, Nicole Crouse-Dickerson and Sarah Schneckenburger!

April 30, 2016

The LTYM: Rochester community is so fortunate to have two, seasoned ASL Interpreters working with our cast this season. Both full-time staff interpreters at RIT/NTID’s Department of Access Services, Nicole Crouse-Dickerson and Sarah Schneckenburger are also busy moms with full hands, which they are graciously loaning us on May 7th. Both Nicole and Sarah were excited about the LTYM videos they’d seen on YouTube, and have extended their services to our deaf audience as official sponsors. We are so grateful that they are on board! Nicole grew up in small village in northern central New York so when asked she reports she is from Syracuse, because who the hell knows where Central Square might be located?  She has worked at RIT as a staff sign language interpreter for 15 years and has no intention of ever leaving.  When not working Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children who are in every way the most challenging […]
