Welcome to #LTYM Raleigh-Durham!

Meet the cast!

Meet Sarah Cade!

by KeAnne on March 1, 2017

Sarah walked into auditions and looked every bit the proper high school teacher (even on a chilly Saturday) until you noticed her tights: bright mustard-yellow.  While she says the pop of color makes her more relatable to her students and keeps them on their toes, those tights were a clue to us that she was full of surprises. Meet Sarah!

Sarah Cade

Sarah lives in Durham, NC with her “amazing husband, Nick, and incredible baby boy Harvey”.  Having come to the area for college, she has called the Triangle home for several years.

Sarah works as a social studies teacher at Leesville Road High School, but when not in the classroom, she has an extensive list of hobbies:

Coaching soccer, playing guitar, reading, writing, hiking, drinking craft beer, traveling to new places, and listening to podcasts/music!

We have a 2016 cast member to thank for Sarah’s participation in the show:

My friend, Caroline Maclaga was in the cast last year, and I came to the show to hear her tell her story… needless to say I fell in love with the production!

Sarah’s favorite writers include Barbara Kingsolver, Mary Oliver, J.K. Rowling, Maya Angelou, Alice Sebold, E.E. Cummings, and Ken Follett.

While Sarah notes she has no formal writing credits (“none thus far”),  she was impressively awarded First Year Teacher of the Year at Leesville Road High School in 2013-14.

When asked what she wants people to know about her, she says:

Maybe just something about how much I’ve come to love writing about the truths behind motherhood, being the child of an alcoholic, and what it’s like to recover from an eating disorder. Each of these things make me unique, but they do not define who I am, and I want other women who walk in my shoes to feel the same way.

As I told you, lots of surprises!  Sarah’s story is extremely personal and moving. While she may have no formal writing credits yet, we have no doubt they will come, and we are thrilled to have her be part of our show.  You will be too. Buy tickets now to hear Sarah’s piece on May 5, 2017.
