by stephaniejankowski on April 14, 2015

Britt Reints is a mother, wife, and writer who made her way to Pittsburgh after a 10-month cross-country road trip in an RV with her family of four. Her work has been featured on Huffington Post, Redbook, Yahoo! and her mother’s Facebook wall. She is also a TEDx speaker, rabid Prince fan, and the author of An Amateur’s Guide to the Pursuit of Happiness. Her writing and links to her book can be found on her siteIn Pursuit of Happiness.Britt Reints

Because Britt radiates happiness, please envision her the way we all see her when reading these responses: with a huge smile, delicate curls bouncing around her kind face, and an easy laugh. Britt is a super cool lady, one we KNOW you’ll fall in love with if you haven’t already.

Q: How did you discover Listen To Your Mother?

A: I first heard about LTYM when an old blogging friend, Ann Imig, created the show! I thought it was really cool what she was doing, and I was so proud the next year when the production branched out into new cities. I’ve been dying for it to come to Pittsburgh since I moved here and I am beyond honored to actually be part of the cast now that it’s here!

Q: When did you first start thinking about your mother (parents) as an individual person (people) and not just “mom” (“mom and dad”)?

A: My mom had me when she was 18 and she raised me very Gilmore Girls style. Because of that, I think I’ve always seen her very much as a person rather than just a mom. It wasn’t until I had my own kids, however, that I truly began to understand the MOM part of her – the sacrifice, the fear, and just what it meant to be “doing the best she could.”

Q: What do you wish most for your children?

A: This so depends on the day! I want to say happiness, but I have a teenager now and there are days when my most desperate hope for him is that he becomes a contributing member of society. I want them to be the smart kind of happy, the kind that comes from having purpose and meaningful connection in their lives.

Q: What do you love most about Pittsburgh?

A: We picked Pittsburgh after looking all over the country for the perfect home because it offers all the amenities of city life without the hefty price tag. People who are from here often overlook all the city has to offer – there is an endless list of things to do and see here!

Britt joins the inaugural Pittsburgh cast of Listen To Your Mother, and unless you’ve already snagged your ticket, you’ll miss her sweet, heartwarming reading on May 8th because OUR SHOW IS SOLD OUT!!! An early thanks to the ladies and gents (and kiddos!) who are as excited about the performance as we are. We promise: you won’t be disappointed!
