13139259_10153007422077325_3490357280058111111_nWe’re reaching out to you during this Post-Thanksgiving, Pre-Holiday Season because let’s face it, there’s nothing that stirs up childhood recollections and motherhood memories quite like a family gathering. So now really is the perfect time to begin writing your audition piece for the 2017 Listen To Your Mother NYC show.

Good-for-the-soul banter is good for writing too.

Begin by just jotting down your ideas, or writing out word-for-word that often-told hilarious (or poignant, or heartbreaking) story that captures your specific motherhood moment.

Remember, we’re not looking for your thoughts on Motherhood, the institution—we’re looking for the story of your Tuesday morning. We’re looking for the stories only you can tell.

Need more inspiration? Check out these motherhood-inspired writing prompts and our video library of past Listen To Your Mother performances.

Other things to keep in mind as you write…

That your story is yours. (At Listen To Your Mother, you retain all rights to your story.)

That your story is your truth.

That the central theme is about motherhood.

And… that’s it!

Start writing. Your story is worth telling.

We want our cast to reflect the voices of New York City and its surrounding burbs and boroughs, so we’re looking to hear from a wide-variety of people, diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and religion.

We’ll be announcing auditions for our NYC show in early 2017. Please help us get the word out – share this post with your circle of friends!

If you’d like to receive information about auditions, sponsorship opportunities, and charity partnerships, send an email to and ask to be added to our mailing list. (We do not share information with 3rd parties.)

We have one more Listen To Your Mother NYC show and we want you to be a part of it.

Wishing you a happy, safe, and inspired Holiday Season!

Amy, Kizz & Barbara
