We want YOU to audition for the Third Annual LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER NYC show, to be held at Symphony Space on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on Sunday, May 4, 2014 – at 5 pm!
Let’s get all the excuses out of the way quick:
“I’m not a blogger.”
“I’m not a mother.”
“I’ve never done anything like that before.”
“I’m not a good writer.”
“They’ll never cast me.”
“I have stage fright.”
“I’m a guy.”
Did I get them all?
If you check out our YouTube channel you can see that people who have given each of those excuses have read in LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER shows. What we’re interested in is your own personal story on the subject of mothers and mothering. We are eager to hear stories from people of all ages, types, backgrounds, and experience-levels. No previous stage experience is necessary.
Auditions will be held on the following dates by appointment only:
Sunday, February 23th 1pm – 6pm
Monday, February 24th 9am – 1pm
Tuesday, February 25th 6pm – 9pm
To schedule an audition, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your name and your availability during the time slots listed above. Auditions are being held in Manhattan – exact location and other details will be sent with your confirmed appointment time.
We are looking for humorous, poignant, painful, joyful, or soulful original pieces on the subject of motherhood which take three to five minutes to read aloud (please check this before the audition). Don’t write about Motherhood with a capital M- write about one day in your life. You don’t have to tell us what motherhood means on a large scale. It’s the personal point of view that we are looking for. Tell us the story only you can tell. Previously published work accepted as long as the author retains full rights or has express permission to read the work for this event.
The firm commitment for cast members includes two rehearsals, a pre-performance run-through at Symphony Space, and the 5 p.m. performance on Sunday, May 4th, 2014.
