Meet Verta Maloney

March 31, 2017

Mother, advocate, twin, educator, photographer, leader, coach, friend, fierce believer are just a few of the things that make VERTA MALONEY who she is. At her core she would say she is a storyteller. Through images and words her goal is to provide opportunities for the stories of many to be heard and honored. Verta was able to bring her love of the arts to her professional career as a Founding School Leader for Bronx Arts  a truly special public charter school in Hunts Point. She later coached and trained school leaders across the country and hopes to have moved their practice and touched their hearts in some way. Verta became a more focused photographer after her children were born as she sought to capture the wonders of motherhood in ways that were honest and true. She writes about loving out loud and her recent roller derby pursuits on her blog, Written Word. Verta is currently focused on […]

Since embracing her second career as a teacher, Jennifer has spoken at several math and education conferences, and was the winner of the 2015 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching for New Jersey. Jennifer has also dabbled in fiction writing, usually in the privacy of her own home while wearing pyjamas and enjoying a glass of wine, but she is thrilled to be able to step into the light and onto the stage to share this piece. Jennifer is currently working on a book of short stories and a science fiction novel. She would like to thank her friends in the MAPSO community, the Writer’s Circle for the […]

Listen to Your Mother North Jersey welcomes back Microphone Sponsor CKO Kickboxing Maplewood – helping clients change their lives one kick at a time! GET INTO SHAPE while CELEBRATING MOTHERHOOD! According to CKO Kickboxing Maplewood, fitness kickboxing is the number one fat burner, with up to 1,200 calories burned during a one hour class. At CKO Kickboxing of Maplewood, clients will be burning fat and toning up by punching and kicking a real, hanging heavy bag. The resistance from hitting a hanging heavy bag burns more calories and tones muscles faster than just punching and kicking the air.  CKO Kickboxing Maplewood keeps the punches and kicks basic to focus on the fitness aspect of the workout rather than the martial art itself. Since the class is for both beginners and advanced members, it is geared for each member to go at his/her own pace and build up his/her pace each class. Unlike the fitness kickboxing […]
