While GARY FORMAN is not a mother, he is the son of a mother and the husband of a mother. When he’s not justifying his qualifications to be part of Listen To Your Mother, Gary runs a consultancy, Gary Forman Creative, that provides speechwriting, copywriting, and communications strategy services for tech companies, non-profits, and others.
Gary hails from Brooklyn, spent most of his adult life in Manhattan, and for the past dozen years has lived in South Orange with his wife, Amy, and two teenaged kids. He has written for several boldface names, including Jon Stewart (who told Gary, “that sounds like a joke except it’s not funny”) and Alec Baldwin (who described Gary’s writing as “wordy.”)
In 2004, Gary wrote and performed a one-man show, Because I Can, at the Greenwich Street Theater in NYC. After a decade-long hiatus from creative writing, in 2016 Gary co-founded Sheilah, a randomly-named South Orange/Maplewood writers group. Gary is grateful to his fellow Sheilah members for their encouragement and support.
