Meet the Cast: Karla Chavez

April 7, 2016

Karla Chavez is a dreamer, believer, doer, and storyteller. She was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and immigrated to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of five. Her childhood dream was always to perform, though her dream was short lived in her 8th grade theatre production of the Wizard of Oz. After a 13 year hiatus, she is ecstatic to return. College seemed impossible for Karla. However thanks to community organizations like T.I.R.R.C., a great support system of family and friends, she accomplished her biggest dream yet. Karla now holds an A.S. degree from Volunteer State Community College and a B.A. degree in Public Relations from Lipscomb University. She spends her weekdays in college recruitment and weekends capturing stories through natural light photography. Her specialty? Let’s just say she is known as the puppy whisperer. The louder the bark, the better the shot. She is passionate about servant leadership, her Nashville community, and hot chicken. […]

Meet the cast: Mona Barz

April 4, 2016

Mona Barz proudly hails from Fargo, ND. She’s been in multiple longstanding love affairs throughout her life—with the performing and literary arts, with nature, and especially with her amazing children Simon and Lucy. Mona earned her undergraduate degree in theater and a Master’s in counseling. She believes both paths are remarkable avenues for exploring the human condition. She’s worked in the non-profit world and the social services arena; she even had a brief stint in the U.S. Senate which made her a bit of a political junkie. Nashville has been Mona’s home for almost eighteen years, although she swore she never wanted to live in the South. The first few decades of her adulthood were rather nomadic, and she was fortunate enough to live in some amazing places: Chicago; Providence, RI; Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania; Edmonton, Alberta; Kampala, Uganda; Columbus, OH; and Cape Town, South Africa. If an advanced degree were offered in […]

The magic of the table read

April 3, 2016

(all photos by Shabnam Aminmadani) Table read day is one of our all-time favorite days. It’s the day we get to watch 14 amazing people come into a room as strangers and leave as family. This year, with 14 cast member and 4 production team members, we are having a ball. And you’ll hear us coming… Laughter, tears, courage, these folks shared parts of themselves that have been previously held close to the heart. And watching them go from nervous smiles to bonds of forever friendships, it’s priceless.  No, really, we laughed. A lot. Except for when we were super serious and working hard. And the crying part. Yeah, there were more than a few tears. You may want to bring a tissue or two to the show. We love these people. These crazy, fun, talented people. Get your tickets so you can fall in love with them too. Saturday, April 30th at […]
