Begin at the Beginning: About the Producers/Directors of LTYM Milwaukee

Since I can remember, borrowing from Winnie the Pooh which is one of my favorite kids’ books, I like to say to my children, “Begin at the beginning, it’s a good place to start.”

We’re doing that here today; the start of Listen To Your Mother/ Milwaukee. Our cast knows us by face, and we’ve all have heard of Ann Imig, Founder and National Director; but today we’ll give you some more meat to go with our gorgeous cheekbones (well, Ann’s, anyway).

Her writing appears on numerous sites including McSweeney’s Internet Tendency and College Humor. Babble recently named her their 2011 funniest Top 50 Twitter Mom, BlogHer named her a 2010-2012 Voice Of The Year, and her 5 and 8 year old boys deemed her The Most Annoying Boss of Everything. Ann founded the live-reading series Listen To Your Mother, spurring a national movement giving Mother’s Day a Microphone. Ann also serves on the Board of Directors for Violence

Jen-150x150JENNIFER GASKELL, Co-Producer, Co-Director, Milwaukee -Jen is a quality/regulatory professional, wife and mom to two young girls. She lives in a small town just north of Milwaukee right on beautiful Lake Michigan. Jen met her husband while tap dancing into his heart during Anything Goes with Shorewood Players. She was also involved in productions with Bay Players, Village Players of Wauwatosa and Soulstice Theatre. Jen credits her theatre mentors, Ellen Knutson and Char Manny, for allowing her to take flight creatively. Jen is thrilled to bring LTYM to Milwaukee. She believes that there is a story in all of us. In 2011, her life changed when she became part of the cast of LTYM Madison, which blossomed into performing alongside Molly Ringwald in TheMoth’s 2012 Mainstage show. BlogHer named her a 2011 BlogHer Voice of the Year for Humor, and a 2012 Voice of The Year for Parenting. Alexandra has been published in various humor and writing websites and is a regular contributor for Aiming Low, Sprocket Ink, Funny not Slutty, TikiTiki Blog, and MilwaukeeMoms. She was  voted Most Interesting Blogger and Best Female Blogger by Studio30Plus, an online writing community. Everybody in Dayton Ohio thinks I discovered Ann Imig. This is because I say it all the time. And I throw in the fact that Alexadra is also a dear friend. But this is ok. Because Dayton is just a city full of name droppers. Proud of LTYM!!
