“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” – Maya Angelou
I love this quote from Maya Angelou because it’s the basis of Listen To Your Mother. There is such power in sharing your story and that starts with an LTYM audition, regardless of the casting outcome. Everyone has a story. Won’t you share yours?
LTYM: Madison seeks a diverse collection of writers (amateurs, professionals, first-timers too!) to read their own words about motherhood at The Barrymore Theatre for the fourth annual LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER production scheduled for 3:00 pm Mother’s Day, Sunday 5/12/13. The show will be recorded and shared with a global audience on LTYMShow’s YouTube Channel, along side videos from the 23 other 2013 LTYM cities. If you haven’t attended an LTYM show, viewing the videos will give you a taste of the live experience and give you an idea of the vast array of stories LTYM seeks.
We welcome all ages, genders, ethnicities, races, abilities–any variety of writer invited to audition—NON-MOTHERS WELCOME. Bring your own original (as in written by you) humorous, poignant, or soulful words about the beauty, the beast, and the barely-rested that is Motherhood! Note: Irreverent welcome, explicit not so much (think PG-13.)
We’re looking for pieces on any facet of mothering, being mothered–anything motherhood related—so long as motherhood is the star. If you’re trying to decide among several pieces–bring the one you feel most passionately about or that you enjoy reading the most. For more about what LTYM looks for, read this post on the national site.
