The “Hoopla” About Listen To Your Mother : Kansas City

by admin on March 4, 2013

If you’re friends with us online, you’ve probably seen many photos like this lately:

Not only have we been buried in snow, but we’ve been buried in Listen To Your Mother submissions. Those selected to audition have been notified and are choosing their time slots. These decisions did not come easily at all; everyone has a story to share, as Ann Imig said in her post from 2011. It’s a great piece, and something both Erin and I needed to read. Each of us has a story inside, whether or not you’ll be sharing yours at Unity Temple.

Nervousness and excitement settle over us as we move on to this part of the process. We’re eager to select, then share our cast with you after auditions. We anxiously await creating our show with these women (sadly, we had not a single male submission), and bringing their words together to share with Kansas City. Please help us spread the word that Saturday evening, May 11, 2013 will be an evening to remember!

Last, but certainly not least, we’re thrilled to welcome the posh Fairway salon HOOPLA as a local sponsor. It’s the hottest spot in town for manis, pedis, waxing and massages. They’re different because their polish “doesn’t have the 5 yuckiest chemicals: toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl, phthalate, and camphor, found in many other brands.” (source) AND they’re made in the USA! Owners Molly Maxwell and Megan Thornberry are really onto something, and Hoopla has quickly become my new BFF. Find Hoopla on Facebook HERE, and on Twitter HERE. Thank you, Molly and Megan, for your support!

Finally, a big thank you to BlogHer, who’s jumped in once again as a national sponsor of Listen To Your Mother. Woohoo!

Please stay tuned for news on our cast  and ticket sales in the coming weeks.
