We’re Ready! Are You?

by Melisa on April 19, 2016

The cast of LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER CHICAGO got together at my house on Sunday for our second and final rehearsal. What I learned was: WE ARE READY.

Yes, you heard me. We could put on this show tomorrow if we needed to. We’re ready!

The great thing about the second rehearsal is that the cast has had more than a month of getting acquainted via emails and on Facebook. They’re not as scared or anxious about sharing their story as they may have been at the first rehearsal, when they worried what others might think…or worried about a variety of other things. They know what to expect. They know that everyone is supportive and friendly. They know we’re all a team; we’re all in this together. The laughter flows freely, as do the tears. They hang out like old friends. The second rehearsal is comfortable.

I left our first rehearsal feeling as if I couldn’t be more excited about this year’s show, our fifth.
I was wrong. My excitement doubled on Sunday afternoon. I cannot wait to get these stories to the stage, and I cannot wait for our audience to hear them.

The fact is, while we’re ready NOW, we have to wait until Sunday May 1 at 2:00 pm, because that’s when the Athenaeum is expecting us, and many (MANY!!!) of you already have tickets. So we’ll just be sitting back, practicing our readings for the next twelve days while you go about your business.

And if you’re one of those who hasn’t purchased tickets yet? Please do, HERE. We can’t wait to see you on May 1!
