Think Again…

by admin on December 27, 2012

In case you think you could never go on stage and read… In case you feel as though you don’t have enough experience or courage… In case you think that the experience wouldn’t be worth the effort? We present to you the moving words of Brandie Langer from the 2012 Chicago LTYM show:

“I walked into the theater a huge ball of nerves.

I walked into that theater full of self-doubt.

I walked into that theater feeling completely terrified.

I walked into that theater thinking I had no business doing what I was about to do.

I walked out of that theater feeling pretty damn good. I walked out of that theater feeling proud of myself. I walked out of that theater feeling loved and supported. I walked out of that theater feeling absolutely amazing.

I did it. I got up on that stage. I didn’t trip. I didn’t freeze up…” (Read the Full Post here)

To say that Brandie was nervous pre-show is stating things lightly. In fact, Melisa and I were more than a little worried that she might not actually go on stage once we saw just how nervous she was moments before the show began. But Brandie not only got in front of that microphone and read her emotional and touching essay on mothering through breast cancer; she went on stage and set the stage for the entire show with her honesty and beauty and grace.

Man… That still makes me cry.

We anxiously await YOUR essay on Motherhood. Think you aren’t “good enough” or “brave enough?” Think we wouldn’t consider your writing because you aren’t a “real writer?” Think nobody would want to hear your views on Motherhood?

Think again.

Beautiful post and presentation Brandie. I am so proud of you for getting up on stage and doing that, even though we have never met. Thank you for sharing part of your story.
