A Conversation Between The Co-Producers of LTYM Chicago

by admin on May 5, 2012

Melisa: So…Tracey! We have a show tomorrow.

Tracey: Really? What show? What are you talking about? I haven’t been obsessing about any show for months on end or anything…

M: Yeah, me neither. BUT SERIOUSLY. The show? I’m so excited.

T. Ditto babe. Sugah.

M: I feel like we’ve been working on it forever, but at the same time it seems like just yester…nah, never mind. It feels like forever. But I CAN’T WAIT to see our cast rock the house!

T. It’s kind of like… Motherhood, eh? Yeah. The kids take forever to grow up and then? Before you know it, they’re freaking teenagers, driving you nuts and leaving the house and you’re sad and excited all at the same time.

M: Yes! That’s so true. I wonder if our cast will come back to visit us? I hope they do.

T. As long as they aren’t living in my basement, they can come back and visit any time they want. Ba dum bum.

M: What’s been your favorite part of this whole process, other than working with me, of course?

T: Awwww… Really, it’s been witnessing the progress of the pieces and the connection that each writer has to his/her piece. I love seeing the emotions that we all are experiencing as a group, too.

M: Yeah, me too. My favorite moment so far was at the second rehearsal, after that one piece (the one that shall not be named before Sunday), when we all got why we are doing this. YOU’RE CRYING, AREN’T YOU??? STOP IT. Anyway, these stories need to be shared and it’s been such an honor helping to bring them to a big audience–a sold out audience at that! It’s also been great meeting some cool new people, and spending time with great people we knew before. I don’t want it to end!

T: I am NOT crying! I was just getting misty, is all. (wipes eyes) I know what you mean. This has been fabulous, all around. I love working with YOU and working with people who write about what is most important to me: Motherhood.

M: I love working with YOU, too! And I’m totally serious about continuing to call you every day after the show. Promise you won’t get a restraining order?

T. Ha ha ha ha ha (actual laughter is much more endearing).

M: It’s okay. I’ll risk it. Anyway, have a great show, Tracey. Break a leg. And mwah!

T. Back atcha. And to all of our cast: We are SO proud of the people who have chosen to work with us! Thank you all for all of your hard work and attention. You are going to ROCK the house on the 6th!

M: I was going to say that!!!! Sigh. Okay. Ditto.

T: Nyah nyah.

“Break all your legs!!” has to be one of the funniest comments I’ve ever seen. EVER. So double thanks for that, and I’ll see you LATER TODAY!!!
