LTYM Chicago Cast Together At Last For Read-Through #1

by admin on March 19, 2012

“So looking forward to taking LTYM out of my brain and into my heart and soul at our #Madison table read today. This is what it’s all about.” ~Ann Imig, LTYM National Director, Sunday 3/18/12

That’s exactly what I was thinking yesterday when Ann posted that statement on Facebook and Twitter (replacing #Madison with #Chicago in my head, of course). Although LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER is–at its heart–a collaborative piece of creativity onstage, there are many (MANY) details that we Producers and Directors have to figure out, juggle, remember, and piece together. It is truly a labor of love but until this point, the emphasis has been on the labor.

Yesterday Tracey and I, like Ann, were able to focus on more love than labor as we had our first run-through/table read. As each individual cast member walked through into the room we had reserved at a tiny pizza place in Oak Park, we watched the group, “the cast of LTYM Chicago”, come together. They introduced themselves to each other, we went over some nuts and bolts, and then got right into the reading.

Everyone listened intently and applauded at the end of each piece. There was laughter, there were some chin drops, and there was a definite need for Kleenex.

Tracey and I had come prepared with our list of the cast pieces in order of how we thought they would best flow on show day. We have some adjustments to make, but one thing’s for sure: our cast rocks.

The read-through confirmed that we picked the best possible pieces for the show, and today made us even more excited (again, as if that were possible) for performance day.

Speaking of performance day, it’s Sunday May 6 at 7:00 p.m. We will FINALLY (Hallelujah!) reveal the theater on Thursday morning, the same day tickets will go on sale. Stay tuned!

Yeay YEAAY YEAYYYYYY! Looks like a wonderful day. If only I could’ve been there. Congratulations again. Chicago is ROCKIN’ IT. xoxo

OH MY GOSH ANN, you would have loved being there. Actually, it sort of felt like you were there, from our end anyway. 🙂

I was really hoping that I could make it to the city for the show that Sunday… but it looks like it won’t work out after all. Can’t wait to see the performances online after!

Oh, shoot. Well you’re right though: the recordings being available online soften the blow of not being there! 🙂

Okay, is it me or does it look like my read-thru put everyone to sleep? (Last photo) Haha! Proud, grateful and humbled to share the stage with these talented storytellers.

Melisa March 21, 2012 at 3:21 pm

Of COURSE not. They were concentrating! 🙂
