When I talk about the Charleston production of Listen To Your Mother, I often say, “I think we’ll have a nice crowd. We might even have a full house.” And then, Sunday night, I checked ticket sales on Eventbrite and we had 16 left. I looked again, and they were all gone. Sold out.

That’s amazing. The cast said, Let’s do another show! And so, that’s exactly what we’re doing!

The second presentation of Listen To Your Mother: Charleston will be held Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at the Footlight Players Theatre. Tickets are on sale now! 10% of ticket proceeds benefit Postpartum Support Charleston.

Eventbrite - LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER: CHARLESTON

Nothing would make the Charleston production team and the cast happier than filling up the Footlight Players Theatre… twice!

What is Listen To Your Mother? The project is half live-stage event, half social media project, a bridge that connects Charleston’s writers with our local community and with the world online. The Listen to Your Mother Show started with one performance in Madison, Wisconsin and has now become a nationwide movement (32 cities!) creating a new way to celebrate Mother’s Day by giving a voice to motherhood.

The Charleston show will feature live readings from a local cast. These brave voices will take their original, true stories about motherhood to the stage: stories about being a mom, not being a mom, having a mom, not having a mom. This show will make you laugh, cry, cheer, nod in recognition, and shout, “Oh, I’ve been there!”

And speaking of the Charleston cast, we met for the first time this past weekend. We had our first readthrough, and strangers became kindred spirits. See for yourself.

My heart is full… I’m so grateful for this beautiful group of storytellers and for our show photographer Jody Mack for capturing those magical moments and creating this amazing video.
