Burbank’s First Annual LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER Show was a resounding success! From the joy of the cast members who shared their stories with such brilliance, to the awe of the audience who had no idea what to expect and left the beautiful Colony Theatre profoundly touched and thoroughly entertained, our generous local sponsors and supportive friends helped us raise almost $3,000 for Burbank’s Family Service Agency in a night of laughter, tears and compelling stories of life, love, loss and motherhood. Listen to Your Mother is all about stories. Our Local Microphone Sponsor, Alisa Cunningham, has her own story about how she came to work in Real Estate and it all comes back to her mother. After several miscarriages, Jeanne Cunningham made the decision to adopt a child. She and her husband, Leo, were living in an apartment in North Vancouver when the adoption agency told them that they needed a house before they could bring home a baby. Leo wasn’t 100% sold on the idea of adoption, but Jeanne secretly squirreled away the money for a down payment on a house. Once they were able to buy that first home, they adopted their first daughter, Andrea. Several years later, the family lost their home through eminent domain as the Trans-Canada Highway cut through Vancouver. But Jeanne was determined to raise her child in a house, and she hoped to adopt another baby. She […]
