Boulder Nurse Midwives Returns as a Local Sponsor with a Giveaway!

by Pam on March 10, 2014

Listen To Your Mother Boulder is thrilled to announce that Boulder Nurse Midwives has returned for the second year in a row as a local sponsor… And they are offering a giveaway!

Boulder Nurse Midwives offers personalized, supportive care that brings women through labor in a way that allows them to tell stories like the ones shared here. These stories praise Boulder Nurse Midwives’ professional and nurturing care. They are also compelling, beautiful, true stories of real women. So you can see why the Listen To Your Mother Show and Boulder Nurse Midwives are such a natural fit.

Here are a few words on what makes this practice such an important local resource from Boulder Nurse Midwives’ founder, Merrilynn Artman, CNM, MS:

Boulder Nurse Midwives is a well established midwifery practice that opened its doors in 2007.  We are a group of five Certified Nurse Midwives who provide  prenatal, labor and delivery, post-partum and well woman care for women.  We attend births at the Family Birth Center at Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colorado.  We believe in preventative care and non intervention unless it is needed for the health of the mom (woman) and baby. Our C-Section rate is at a healthy 10% (according to the World Health Organization).  We have long appointment times (and striving for even longer!) so that women and their families do not feel rushed or hurried.  We also support the labor and delivery process and believe in labor and birth support.  Visit our website at:

or call

303-443-BABY (2229)

In addition to visiting their website, which is chock full of information, you can also check out Boulder Nurse Midwives on Facebook here. I love their Facebook page because they are always updating it with inspiring quotes and links to articles and resources, all about birth.

To celebrate our partnership, Boulder Nurse Midwives is giving away a Boulder Nurse Midwives a gift package of a T-Shirt, a mug and a Tote Bag! The super-soft, cozy t-shirt is made of organic cotton and comes from Farm Fresh Clothing Company. This socially conscious company makes all of their products in the United States with eco-friendly ink.

What a great resource for Boulder. I have a few friends who are aspiring nurse midwives and I’m exited for the potential to have them help deliver one of my future babies!

One of the things my mom has told me about my own birth is something I just can’t forget or even fully comprehend! She was at a hospital in Connecticut, in the mid 70s and was asked if she wanted ‘gas’ for the delivery. Apparently, it was standard to ask the mother if she wanted to be conscious for the birth, and if you wanted to avoid all that pain, the solution was to put you under completely! (She refused, by the way).
Luckily, we have advanced in our thinking!

Wow!I didn’t realize women were being offered gas even in the 70′s. I thought that ended in the 60′s.
