National Media Sponsor BlogHer and LTYM are thrilled to announce our 4th Open Mic Salon at BlogHer 2014!!
What is the Open Mic Salon?
The Open Mic Salon is just one part of BlogHer’s epic party plan, providing attendees a respite from the day’s learning and networking. After celebrating the Voices of The Year #VOTY (bloggers selected by a panel to read their own writing at a microphone before the entire conference), you can throw your name in a hat for a chance to be randomly selected to read one of your own posts before the most supportive audience that exists–your fellow internet writers.
Or simply come to the Open Mic Salon to enjoy a quiet space and bear witness to even more words crafted by your blog peers.
When is the Open Mic Salon?
Friday, July 25th: Express Yourself on Friday Night at BlogHer
6-11PM at the San Jose Convention Center: Voices of the Year Reception, Open Mic Salon, and Killer Karaoke
All of the above will take place at the San Jose Convention Center, leveraging their open courtyard for the VOTY/PhOTY reception, but starting at 8PM we will also bring back our Open House Suite Parties, hosted by sponsors and community leaders alike, at the Hilton Hotel, directly connected to the Convention Center.
Along with the return of Queerosphere, hosted by Deb Rox, and the Multi-Culti party, hosted by Pauline Campos and Ananda Leeke, we have some really great sponsors who will be hosting their own open house receptions that evening.
Thank you to BlogHer for inviting LTYM to co-host the Open Mic Salon once again, and for supporting women and words since 2005.
Why have an Open Mic Salon?
If there’s one thing that LTYM has demonstrated, it’s the amount of stories begging to be heard, out loud, in front of an audience. BlogHer helps us create more opportunities for this to happen with the Open Mic Salon, reaching beyond LTYM’s annual Mother’s Day live-show season, and beyond their highly-coveted #VOTY podium.
Plus, the Open Mic allows LTYM one more opportunity to fulfill its mission of supporting women and families in need, by raising awareness and funds for a good cause–another blogger home-grown organization that provides peer support and information about pospartum anxiety and depression– Katherine Stone’s Postpartum Progress. Please consider donating a couple bucks to this worthy cause, look for the donation box at the Open Mic.
