Open Mic Salon at BlogHer ’12 in NYC!!

by Ann on February 29, 2012

While we find ourselves immersed in planning for our 2012 ten-city season, LTYM already looks ahead with anticipation to the BlogHer 2012 conference this August 2nd-4th in New York City! BlogHer serves as the hub for women online with their site, ad network, and slate of conferences filling nearly every imaginable blog niche. Their annual conference attracts THOUSANDS of online women (and a few men!), and they just announced their incredible party plan. All of the parties are open to every registrant with a badge–no RSVPs required, and LTYM is thrilled to join the ranks of some outrageously fun and delightful parties, hosted by some of your favorite bloggers and communities (like MamaPop’s Sparklecorn dance extravaganza, Deb Rox’s Queerosphere, and Aiming Low/The Mouthy Housewives Come As You Are to name just a few!)

As part of their national media sponsorship, BlogHer invited LTYM back to co-host another Open Mic Salon at the event, following the “Voices Of The Year” (the very event that inspired me to create LTYM). While Voices Of The Year requires a selection process, BlogHer compares the Open Mic event to blogging karaoke–put your name in a hat and if your name gets drawn, you read! Last year the salon was full-to-bursting. We heard 20 readers and wished we had time for 20 more. I hope you will join us for another amazing night of reading, listening, and honoring the work we all do here in the blogosphere–share our words.

Please join LTYM at The Open Mic Salon at BLOGHER 2012: NEW YORK!!

Also, DO nominate (you must login first) and vote for your favorite posts of the year–including your own–for Voices of The Year. I’ve already nominated a couple myself, and plan to add more before the April 30th deadline. You could get chosen to read in front of 3000-4000 of your peers–a once in a lifetime opportunity–or your post might become an honoree.

I loved the open mic salon! Met a lot of lovely people and listened to some cool pieces.
