Meet LTYM:Chicago Director/Producers!

by Ann on January 4, 2012

Having spent a decade living and working in Chicago–performing on neighborhood stages, marrying and having my first son, and attending graduate school at The Universty of Chicago–I consider it my home away from home. I feel beyond excited and filled with pride to see two enterprising women bring LTYM to the heart of The Windy City.

If you’ve read the other “Meet the Director/Producer” posts, you’ll notice a theme; incredibly busy women taking on another huge project, LTYM. It’s precisely these women’s ability to juggle work and family, combined with their huge creative passion and love for their online and real-life communities, that makes them perfect candidates to direct and produce an LTYM show.

I had the pleasure of meeting and laughing very hard with Tracey Becker at BlogHer conferences. She’s delightful, fun, and funny. Tracey manages to raise and homeschool three kids while writing all over the internet. Let’s try not to hold her fresh face and lack of eye-bags against her, okay?

Tracey Becker

Tracey Becker has lived in the suburbs of Chicagoland her entire life and is currently living in Plainfield. She has been writing for her personal blogs, Just Another Mommy Blog & Just Another Review Blog, for over 5 years. During that time, she has contributed to a variety of group blogs over that time, including The Chicago Moms and Mamapedia.

She loves reading great blogs on the internet when she isn’t  she is homeschooling her 3 children aged 13, 9 and 6 (Yes, it IS a lot ofwork. And no, she ISN’T super patient.) and she is crazy excited to be working on Listen to Your Mother!

For an author of two books, a blogger who’s worked extensively with brands, and *ahem* a wife for 25 YEARS with 2 young man-sons, Melisa Wells is way too humble. We haven’t met in real life, but I’ve so enjoyed speaking with her on the phone–even though she still won’t tell me which Twilight Zone episode she stumbled into that she could possibly have accomplished so much and still look so young.

Melisa Wells

Melisa Wells was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She is the author of two books, Remembering Ruby: For Families Living Beyond the Loss of a Pet and Chicken in the Car and the Car Won’t Go: Nearly 200 Ways to Enjoy Chicagoland With Tweens and Teens. Her third book, should she actually bite the bullet and actually write it, will probably have a one-word title.

Melisa is also a freelance magazine writer and has been writing online at Suburban Scrawl since 2007. She is one of the partners of Social RevUp (a company that connects bloggers and brands) and, IRL, teaches group cycling classes. She is a typical Type-A personality, an optimist, AND a Scorpio. Melisa currently lives in the western suburbs with her husband Jim, their two boys, (college sophomore D and high school junior J) and their trouble-making beagle, Roxie.

She is totally jazzed beyond belief to bring “Listen To Your Mother” to Chicago, and looks forward to getting the audience totally jazzed beyond belief to watch it. Being a Type-A optimist Scorpio will probably help.

Awww… I’m fresh-faced? I will choose to not debate that compliment. :)

You are TOO sweet. I hope you don’t mind that I plan to print your intro and tuck it under my pillow. :-)

BTW, no Twilight Zone episode…I was blessed with my mom’s genes. At 68, she looks way younger. #woot

Melisa, DID we meet at BlogHer? You are so familiar to me now, I can’t determine if I know you in real life or not.

Tracey is a lovely new friend I met at the 2011 BlogHer. And yes – she is annoyingly youthful looking… I also met Melisa at the 2010 BlogHer and she sent me a family recipe for black and white cookies (no idea how I ended up telling her about my love of the b&w cookie – perhaps because we were in NYC?) I still haven’t attemped baking that one, but hearing about her Chicago show reminded me.

They are a fantastic team – and I can’t wait to see their show online!
