Steph had a hunch that NW Indiana would flock to Listen To Your Mother, and did they ever. From the generous local sponsors that made the show possible, to the throngs that filled the gorgeous historic Memorial Opera House, to the amazing collection of stories Steph assembled, Valpo clearly loved LTYM.
Thank you to the talented cast who gave their personal stories to NW Indiana as a truly unique and memorable Mother’s Day gift:
June Saavedra itemizes the indignities and inanity of motherhood and why we make such sacrifices
For those of us who never had any intention of becoming moms (but did) Heather Novak pays tribute.
Meagan Francis details the oxymoron that is mom-and-baby yoga.
Adam Kellogg tells us who’s really “Mom’s Favorite.”
Lovelyn Palm challenges us to give of our mothering selves to children everywhere–not just our own.
Suzi Ryan informs us it’s not the quiet child to be wary of, but rather the casual “Hi Mom” kid walking through the living room in “While you were sleeping.”
Kate Pantinas pays tribute to the working mom.
In “Mama’s Home Now” Sharon Angelina Stefankiewicz details her harrowing battle and loss of custody of her two young sons.
Elizabeth Chatwell takes us from her English class to labor and delivery and finally finds her extra credit.
After dropping her daughter at college, Megan Summers quickly itemizes “The Things I May Have Forgotten to Tell You”
Patrick Thorton finds the humor and brings down the house.
Director/producer Stephanie Precourt wraps it up so everyone can enjoy the best part of the day with their children– bedtime.
The Valparaiso show would not have been possible without the support of local sponsors, Albert’s Diamond Jewelers, and Lithographic Communications and without the help of the Memorial Opera House, Uptown Cafe, Ivy Tech Community College, Beth Fletcher Photography, and videographer Evan Costas (evancostas@gmail.com) for the videography.
10 percent of Valparaiso’s ticket proceeds benefit two causes. Gabriel’s Horn provides a protected refuge for homeless women and their children through a safe and temporary shelter and outreach services. LTYM’s national cause City of Joy provides necessary skills and support for survivors of gender violence in Bukavu Democratic Republic to rebuild and transform their lives.
Thank you so much Stephanie, June, Heather, Meagan, Adam, Lovelyn, Suzi, Kate, Elizabeth, Sharon, Megan, and Patrick. Make sure to carve out a few minutes from your day to watch their fantastic performances, and recognize their amazing efforts. And Valpo? Hope to see you next Mother’s Day!!
